Welcome to my gallery.
By profession I'm a CG artist/animator/technical director. Most of my work is in the movies, digital effects, animation, helping make a little bit of movie magic. I do take my photographic work seriously though. Strictly speaking I'm not a professional photographer although if I dig around hard enough I could probably find something that looks like a degree; I spent 3 years at the London College of Printing back in the mid 70s when you used wet stuff to make photographs. I managed to drag out an excuse for a living taking pictures for a few years after that, mostly working with musicians, before computers suddenly got exciting and I dropped into computer animation just as it was becoming The Next Big Thing.
Now that cameras and computers are converging it's finally possible to do something interesting in the digital realm and I've started taking pictures again. The results are what you see here. I use a Canon EOS 1DS with a small range of lenses. The 1DS gives you 10 bits of colour, essential if you're going to work on the image.I also use a Leica M8 that I try to keep on me most of the time.
Photoshop is my darkroom and for that reason I shoot RAW, although I try not to get too carried away; I like to keep a natural look to the images.
Most of the work you see here is Landscape but I also sail theseand I'm hoping this year to get some watersports action shots.
Enjoy.
